At long last the end of 2019 is insight.  The year has brought many changes on both the local and national scene. The one constant on which I always rely is knowing that the people that live in Eaton Rapids love their community. Whether it be serving our seniors at the Jean Bradford Kline Senior Center, helping at the Miller Farm for one of the Eaton Rapids Area Historical Society events, volunteering for one of our boards or committees or putting groceries in the back of a patrol car during the “Fill a Cop Car” food drive.

I know that you all care about your community, as do the members of the council and the city staff.  We strive every day to provide you with good service and work diligently to promote and embrace the “big city amenities with the small town atmosphere” credo.

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank your city employees. Without them the daily operations would grind to a halt.

Know this, your efforts, expertise and devotion do not go un-noticed. You may not hear it often enough but THANK YOU!

Please enjoy our Hometown Family Christmas events scheduled for Saturday, December 7th. There is a complete list in the Flashes.  The Hometown Family Christmas event is jointly sponsored by the Eaton Rapids Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Development Authority and the City of Eaton Rapids.

The Grand Marshall for this year’s event is Bill Botti. Truly a fantastic choice and nobody is a “bigger cheerleader” for his community.  Thank you Bill for all of your years of service.

Join the Eaton Rapids Area Historical Society in celebrating the Christmas Season on Saturday, December 14th, from 5-8 pm at the Miller Farm on State St.  There will be food, fun and friendship in abundance. The museum and historic village will be open for strolling and peppermint ice cream will be served in the Ice cream parlor.  Don’t miss this one.

As the year draws to a close I wish to express my thanks to all of you. Our residents are the heart and soul that keeps us moving forward.  From me to you, have the merriest of Christmas’.    Take the time to appreciate those around you, whether you know them or not. A smile or a kind gesture or word goes far in today’s world.

I bid you peace and prosperity in 2020.

Merry Christmas,

Paul
