Marrie Jo was appointed as the City Treasurer in July of 2014 after working as the Deputy Treasurer since November of 2013.
Marrie Jo has many years of Municipal training as she was previously the Finance Director for the Village of Lake Odessa for 14 years. Marrie Jo also has performed the duties if Deputy Treasurer as well as Deputy Clerk.
Marrie Jo is a member of the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association and has completed her Back to the Basic classes as they have been provided.
Marrie Jo has worked in some phase of Governmental Accounting for over 20 years and has also been included in the financial processes of numerous Grants that have included MSHDA, CDBG, Michigan Department of Transportation, Rural Development/DNR and the State of Michigan which would include Facade Grants as well as Rental Rehabilitation Grants.
Marrie Jo has also performed the Human Resource Duties, Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Payroll and has helped to develop Budgets. Marrie Jo performed additonal accounting duties for the Lake Odessa Art’s Commission and the Lake Odessa Car Show.
The City Treasurer serves as the general accountant of the City. Responsibilities include; administration of the property tax collection and disbursement; safeguard the City’s assets and assure the integrity of the financial processes and procedures; monitoring accounting documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Federal, State, and City policies; manage payroll, workers compensation claims, unemployment benefits, and employee insurance benefits.

Summer Taxes: September 1st of each year.
Your payment must be received in our office by close of business on September 1st at 4:30 p.m.; no post dates will be accepted. After that date a 3% penalty will be added and 1% monthly interest for each month delinquent, until taxes are paid.
