The Term of Office for Commissioners is Three Years.
The Planning Commission is an appointed government board charged with recommending to the city council the boundaries of the various original zoning districts and appropriate regulations to be enforced therein and any proposed amendments thereto. In addition, the Planning Commission collects data and keeps itself informed as to the best practices generally in effect in the matters of city planning and zoning. It is qualified to act on measures affecting the present and future movement of traffic, the segregation of residential and business districts and the convenience and safety of persons and property in any way dependent on city planning and zoning.
The Planning Commission is responsible for the drafting and maintenance of the City Master land use and zoning plan, reviewing all applications for re-zoning, lot splits, site plan approval, special land use permits and variances and giving recommendations to the City Council for each.
