The recycling facility was made possible through a partnership with Meridian Magnesium Products of America Inc. Located at the Public Works Dept., 301 Market St. the facility is ready for your materials:
Residential Mixed Paper:
Including newspaper, magazines, direct “junk” mail, first class mail, other printing and writing papers, envelopes, and phone books. NO: Plastic bags, string, twine, stickers, coins, or hard cover books.
Place in the separate container for newspaper only.
Plastic Bottles, Jugs & Tubs (#1 thru #7):
Containers with #1 through #7 symbols on bottom accepted, including bottles and jugs with narrow, threaded neck, plastic tubs (margarine, sour cream, cottage cheese, etc.), microwave trays and yogurt containers. NO: Plastic bags, paper wax-coated milk or juice cartons, styrofoam containers/packaging, syringes, garden hose/rubber, furniture, pools, toys, or free flowing liquids.
Place in separate compartment marked for milk jugs and detergent containers.
Tin cans & aluminum:
Rinse the cans, remove any paper label.
Place in separate compartment marked for tin cans and aluminum.
Clear glass jars:
Rinse, put metal lids with tin cans. Do not remove label. No brown glass. No green glass. No drinking glass. No window glass. No ceramic.
Brown glass jars: Rinse, put metal lids with tin cans. Do not remove lable. No clear glass. No green glass. No drinking glass. No window glass. No ceramic. No Pyrex.
Place in separate compartment marked for clear glass.Place in separate compartment marked for brown glass of the open top container.
